Professional Code of Ethics

Last updated: October 28, 2026

This Code of Ethics sets out the standards of conduct that every person who obtains a certificate from States University agrees to follow. Acceptance is recorded at issuance, and a breach may result in invalidation of the certificate.

1. Integrity and honesty

The certificate holder acts with honesty in all professional relationships: the holder does not provide false information, does not omit relevant facts and does not use the certificate to mislead others about the nature or scope of the holder’s training.

2. Competence and limits of practice

The certificate holder works within the limits of the holder’s own training and experience, recognizes when a situation requires knowledge the holder does not have and refers it to someone who can handle it properly. The holder is committed to continuing education and keeps the holder’s knowledge up to date.

3. Respect and non-discrimination

The certificate holder treats clients, colleagues and the public with respect and dignity, without discrimination of any kind based on national origin, race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, social status or disability.

4. Confidentiality

Information obtained in the course of the holder’s work is confidential. The certificate holder discloses it only with the consent of the person concerned or when required by law, and protects the records and personal information in the holder’s care.

5. Professional responsibility

The certificate holder takes care of the quality of the services the holder provides, clearly communicates the scope, limits and realistic expectations of the work, and takes responsibility for the holder’s own actions and recommendations.

6. Honest use of the certificate

The certificate is a private certificate of completion of a non-credit continuing-education course. The certificate holder does not present it as an academic degree, as registration with a professional licensing board or association, or as authorization to practice a regulated profession where the activity requires any of these, and does not alter the document, its number or its verification QR code.

7. Breach

A breach of this Code may result in invalidation of the certificate, which is shown on the verification page, under the Certificate Issuance and Use Terms. Version in effect: 2026-08-10. The English version is the only version of this Code.
